Former Lawmen Player, CHP Officer John Miller, Killed in Crash
On Friday November 16th, 2007, former Lawmen player and current CHP Officer, John Paul Miller, of Lodi, died when his car crashed near Livermore as he was pursuing a recless, suspected drunk driver. John, shown above wearing #30 on the original Lawmen team 1994, was the nephew of Lawmen team founder and Semi-Pro Hall of Fame member Rick Williams, shown above wearing #64. The entire Lawmen organization sends out our deepest sympathies and prayers to John's family, friends and co-workers for their loss. The following is an excerpt for Rick Williams on his nephew:

"John gave his life in the line of duty while attempting to protect & save the lives of his fellow californians.John had taken the pledge as a sworn state peace officer to,"assist those in peril ordistress & if necessary, lay down my life rather than swerve from the path of duty." John made the ultimate sacrifice while upholding this creed of the CHP & while doing everything in his ability to prevent harm to each of his fellow citizens & so in doing will be forever known as a hero for his sacrifice.

But for those of us whom watched this young man grow up in his beloved town of Linden,California with his sister Amy,we already had known what a special human being that johns parents Carolyn and Larry Miller had given us on Jan.29th1975.John lived a life in 32 years that those of us as parents can hold up as the blue print for what we dream that our children will aspire to become.John loved sports & played football, basketball & baseball all four years while at Linden high.In his senior football season John was voted captain of his team by his fellow teamates & during his "all league season" performance helped lead the Lions to a championship.John while still a senior in high school played in a law enforcement charity football game with his ever so proud uncle Rick.Johns team the Northern Calif. Lawmen were made up of stockton police officers, san joaquin county sheriffs, state correctional officers & they played the state correctional officers from sole- dad state prison.John although the "pup" of this team quickly became beloved by all for the character that this young mans every fiber was made of.John went on to play football at Delta college and later earned his bachelor's degree. Then John met his sole mate for life in Stephanie & with his heart full with love married his princess in 2001 & settled in Lodi,California.Soon to follow was their first child, son Chandler & then their little girl Reese followed not far behind.Johns fairy tale was complete & he lived every moment to the fullest for his family & was the most devoted husband, dad, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin & friend that their ever was.John would drive trucks for cherokee freight lines & became a real estate agent for century twenty one,but the calling for public service led John to enter the CHP academy in 2006 & in March 2007 John had his badge pinned to his chest with the pledge of service to his fellow citizens.

John has gone on before us to heaven & our hearts are filled with grief, but although we will forever miss our beloved John we have only to look into the eyes of his son Chandler & daughter Reese to realize john lives on thru these two precious children that he & his beloved wife Stephanie brought into this world. From all of your family & friends untill were together once again,
"
