The NorCal Football Organization announces a change in team management.  Team owner Boots James is stepping down after
ten seasons with the team. Boots James joined the team as a player in 1999, the year the Lawmen won their first title.  He then became a co-owner in 2003 and in 2004 he took over as the team owner.  James led the team to the GCFL title in 2006 and the GCFL NFC
title in 2008.  The team had an overall record of 45-20 over those 5 seasons.  James will keep his passion for football going as he'll continue to coach high school football.

The team will now be run by Brad Newnham and George French. The two also joined the team in 1999, and along with James were players on the Lawmen's 1999, 2000 and 2002 championship teams.  Brad Newnham has been the Lawmen GM since 2004 and will now take over as head coach.  George French has been the team marketing director since 2003, has been a team co-owner for the last two seasons and will now become the team's new owner.

Newham and French both played for the Hayward Outlaws of the Minor League Football System (MLFS) in 1989.  The Outlaws played home games in San Leandro and traveled to Seattle, Colorado, North Carolina, Florida and Pennsylvania to compete in the MLFS.  Between the two of them, there are over 45 years of experience at the Minor League/Semi-Pro level.  Newnham played HS football and then after several pro tyrouts found himself playing for the Antioch Hornets in 1981.  He played full time right up until 2003 (22 years) and could still be found as recent as last year wearing pads and playing in the fall Gladiator League.  French played at Laney College and Oregon Tech, then, also after several unsuccessful pro-tryouts, end up with the Hayward Outlaws in 1989.  He played on and off for the next 10 seasons until he too ended up on the 1999 NorCal Lawmen championship team.

2009 Team Staff Members Needed:
The NorCal Lawmen Football Organization is looking for position coaches for all offensive and defensive positions to help our talented set of players win a championship in 2009.  We are also looking for team staff members to help out in various aspects of running the football organization.  If you are interested in working with us as either a coach or in any other capacity in 2009, please contact George French or Brad Newnham directly.

2008 Season Celebration Party/BBQ: The Lawmen will be celebrating the 2008 season success (10-3) by having a party/BBQ on Sunday June 29th at the Live Oak Clubhouse in Concord.  The team would like all players and staff show up and celebrate the 2008 season and discuss the team's exciting plans for 2009.
2008 Success:  The NorCal Lawmen finished the 2008 season with a 10-3 record, were the NFC Conference Champions, and finished only 7 minutes short of another championship.
Next Practice:  The Lawmen will be practicing and holding tryouts once each month starting in August, going right up until January, at which time the team will begin the regular practices every Sunday at Pittsburg High School.
Children's Hospital Charity Event: The Lawmen would like to thank the 15 players and staff members that showed up and worked at 6:00 AM, the day after the Crusaders night game, for the 'Workday Devil Mountain Run' event. Click here for details.
