New Head Coach Annonced
Right Before Season Start
With just one week left before opening day of the
2009 NCFL
season, the Lawmen have decided to restructure the team
staff. First year defensive coordinator and Hall
of fame coach Al Burrell
has been named the new Lawmen Head Coach.
This was a tough decision that was made by
General Manager Brad Newnham
in his 11th year with the team and who was just starting his first season as
head
coach. Newnham who has been the General Manager and Director of Player
personnel for the last several years realized that he had spread himself too
thin with
all his duties of running Lawmen football operations and being the new head
coach.
Being the perfectionist that he is, after one very successful pre-season game,
Newnham came to the realization that he could not do his best at all of
these jobs at the same time. With Newnham being irreplaceable as GM and
running all Lawmen football operations, the decision was made to promote newly
acquired hall of fame coach Al Burrell to be the new Lawmen Head Coach. The
coach and team still have the same goal in site, which is NOTHING LESS than the
2009 NCFL Championship.
Burrell has spent most of his coaching career
on the defensive side of the ball, but he spent most of his long successful
playing career as a Wide Receiver and he knows offense as well as anyone. He'll
still be the defensive coordinator and he'll be working closely with fist year
Offensive Coordinator William Carlen to make sure the Lawmen
offense continues to click on all cylinders. |
