Lawmen Outplay Rattlers 27-6 in Battle of Top Teams
(April 8 2006):
The Lawmen took their 2-0 record and faced off last Saturday against the 2-0 North Bay Rattlers. The game started off fast with the Rattlers scoring 6 on the opening drive and the Lawmen following up four plays later when QB Scott Burke hit WR Nick Iano with a 40 yard TD pass, giving the Lawmen a 7-6 lead. Following a Rattler punt on their 2nd drive, the Lawmen moved effectively on the ground with RB Jeremy Lindsey, followed by a 48 yard pass from Burke to Iano, and then capped the drive with a 5 yard pass from Burke to Lindsey, putting the Lawmen up 13-6. Just before the half, the Rattlers were driving deep in Lawmen territory looking to tie the game when last year's league interception leader, Lawman AB Brown, picked off a pass to kill the drive. In the 2nd half the Lawmen defense took control early forcing the Rattlers to punt from their own 1 yard line. Lindsey returned the punt to the Rattler 15, and then Burke hit veteran WR Raymond Price with an 11 yard TD pass to put the Lawmen up 20-6. Two series later, 2nd year player Antonio Madden turned a WR screen into a 49 yard gain, then grabbed another 17 yard pass to set up QB Burke for a 1 yard TD run which put the game away with the Lawmen scoring 27 unanswered points.
