After a busy offseason, the Lawmen look to be back on track as the they kicked off 2005 on Jan 15 with great success. Even with the loss of a few key players, the Lawmen look much stronger this year with the addition of numerous league veterans and many new players. After receiving commitments from many different players from GSAFL rival teams, the Lawmen look to be in position again to challenge the heavyweights in the league.
During the off season, the
Lawmen successfully recruited new and veteran players from all over Northern California, as well as two new coaches that will play key roles in this season's success, Benicia High School’s Steve Humphries and Pittsburg High School’s Jess Quesada. Both coaches come to the Lawmen with solid credentials and a working history with many of the players.
When practice ended on Saturday (Jan 15) the crowd that had gathered was able to visit with all of the sixty players who attended and were able to find many local standout athletes that are coming into the league as new players and others as seasoned veterans. So if you are a local to the East Bay and check the Lawmen website, local papers, or the radio you will be finding out more about these exceptional players and the team where you can catch up with some of your old high school or college favorites. The Lawmen will be taking the field at DVC in Concord every Thursday night and Saturday afternoon for Practice until April when the GSAFL regular season starts, so be sure to come out and see your local championship team in action!!
